TELLY golden boy Piers Morgan will pick up £40,088 AN HOUR for his new chat show, taking his ITV salary to more than £1 MILLION.
After branding Michael Parkinson and KIM Kardashian ‘too expensive’ when he retired last year, bosses have given replacement Morgan, 43, a string of megabucks deals. The former newspaper editor—sacked for publishing fake photos of troops abusing Iraqis—will get:
- £240,000 for his primetime chat show.
- £450,000 as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
- £160,000 for an ‘exclusivity’ fee.
- £200,000 for five one-hour specials.
The insider added: “The first six episodes have already been filmed.”
Parky, who was on £750,000 a year when he retired last year, told recently of his last dealings with ITV’s boss. “Michael Grade told me with a straight face I was too expensive,” he said.
Morgan—whose £1m deal is 42 TIMES the UK’s average wage of £23,800— is not the only ITV star laughing all the way to the bank. Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton will earn £150,000 each for All Star Mr & Mrs next year.
